Sunlight accomplishments during the pandemic so far- we need your help!
Please consider making a donation to Sunlight Retreats for Giving Tuesday on December 1st. We need at least $6,000 to meet our hard costs and we have already reached $2.2K of our goal with our loyal supporters. We also have an anonymous donor who will match up to $3K in donations made by December 31st! Please donate so we can be around to help survivors in 2021.
Since the pandemic hit, while it was impossible to host our planned 4th Sunlight Retreat, we have not slowed down and pivoted to help how we could:
Team 3 Alumni Michelle Sines to launch a partner organization and her first retreat in North Carolina in September.
A Team 1 and Team 3 Alumni nurses and their ICU and nursing home staff were supported in March when COVID hit to show our gratitude with $900 in earmarked meal campaign donations.
Set up a student club at the University of San Diego designed to support survivors called Sunlight for Survivors
One on One mentoring with survivors, family members, and partners struggling
Hosted Alumni team meetups to discuss trauma that might be resurfacing from the chaos and isolation of the pandemic with trauma specialist Dr. Shiva Ghaed
Assisted with a military disability claim
Applied to grants (no luck yet) and made it to the second round of the World Economic Forum's COVID Sprint challenge.
And our core mission--we have started planning for a Sunlight Retreat in Julian, CA for 2021 (timing TBD) and in Annapolis, MD (timing TBD). We are as anxious as you and the rest of the world to get back to hosting in-person retreats as soon as it is safe with the rollout of the vaccine.
